This is a new position reporting to the Director of Operations.  We are looking to hire a person who wants to expand their career in an entrepreneurial, startup environment and lead 20-30 highly skilled workers as they fabricate, assemble, test, inspect, and repair electronic products, systems, subassemblies, components, and parts for some of the most advanced technology projects in the world.  The Assembly and Test Manager supports the team by engaging in collaborative communications, promoting safety and teamwork, and actively offering coaching, mentoring, tools, stretch assignments, and other training initiatives to empower individuals to improve performance and advance professional skills development.

Job Qualifications: Assembly & Test Manager

A day in life:

-Manage a team of highly skilled operators in a manufacturing setting to ensure that production targets are met, and quality standards are maintained.  

- Managing staff: Hiring, training, and disciplining employees, and assigning responsibilities.

-Ensuring safety: Ensuring that employees are properly trained and understand the importance of safety, and that safety rules and procedures are followed.

-Maintaining equipment: Ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and evaluating new equipment.

-Organizing workflow: Preparing work schedules and coordinating production schedules to achieve a standardized workflow.

-Identifying issues: Addressing production problems as they arise and troubleshooting issues.

-Compiling records: Compiling production records and reporting on team performance.

-Checking output: Verifying production output against specifications and detecting issues in efficiency. 

 

What you’ll need to be successful:

-BS degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years of leadership experience is strongly preferred.  Alternatively, a person who has 5+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced circuit board assembly and electronics testing environment.

-Ability to communicate both verbally and written to the production workforce, management, suppliers and customers, and possess strong interpersonal skills.

-Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

-Solid foundation of manufacturing and quality assurance process, policies, procedures and methodologies.

-Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

-Robust skills in numerical and statistical analysis, and extensive knowledge with process improvement and enhancement (including lean manufacturing).

-Ability to direct, oversee and lead personnel, and is a great team player through coordination, and motivational leadership.

-Per ITAR Compliance must be a U.S. Citizen.

Other Considerations:

The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional manufacturing setting; The individual is constantly required to talk, hear, stand, or sit for extended periods while using a computer, telephone, or other productivity devices to communicate with other personnel and conduct business. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual frequently uses their hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects and computer keyboards. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, squat, turn/twist, and smell. The individual must frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds and/or occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

On a frequent and routine basis, this job also requires the individual to be physically present in a (light industrial), temperature-controlled, air-filtered manufacturing area to communicate with others and conduct business. The noise levels in the facility can also vary widely in different regions and specific workspace restrictions are also possible. Occasional sitting, standing, moving forward/back/side-to-side, and working around machinery and moving parts is possible; exposure to electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, sealants, solvents, and other compounds is possible.

Site conditions will dictate using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing,  respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, etc. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.
